Using GFOA YieldAdvantage, a new online auction web site, Cook County, Illinois earned “significantly better yields” than in the past on the recent placement of $100 in debt securities. This was the first time that the County used an online auction platform, and the results were more competitive than ever, according to Tom Glaser, chief financial officer. GFOA YieldAdvantage was formed in December through an alliance between the Government Finance Officers Association and the Grant Street Group, parent of MuniAuction.
