New Georgia City Contracts with Private Firm to Provide Bulk of Municipal Services

“A City is Born” touts the marquis on Sandy Springs’ web site. The first new city in Georgia in 50 years, Sandy Springs - population 90,000 - became an “official” city on December 1, 2005.

With a stated focus on better serving its citizens, Sandy Springs contracted with CH2M HILL-OMI to provide the majority of its municipal services, including administrative functions and public works at a cost of approximately $32 million per year. The city will continue to receive police, fire, and 911 Emergency services from Fulton County for an interim period.
