NYC Posts Preliminary Budget Materials Upon Release

New York City, Bloomberg, budget
February 3, 2006 · Print · Email

Earlier this week, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg unveiled the City’s proposed $52.2 billion 2007 budget. Within hours of the budget announcement, online visitors were able to view the budget documents, watch a web broadcast of Mayor Bloomberg’s budget presentation, and read the City’s press release.

While many local governments make it a practice to post budget-related content on their web sites, we applaud New York City for posting this information online in such a timely fashion. For the past several years, NYC.gov has done a great job of removing the “big city” intimidation factor; the manner in which it handled the upcoming fiscal year’s proposed budget is yet another example of making the business of government accessible and understandable.
