Happy Groundhog Day -- The Movie lives on in Woodstock, Illinois

February 2, 2006 · Print · Email

It’s Groundhog Day and you are going to keep doing it over and over until you get it right. The popular movie made in 1993, featuring Bill Murray and Andie McDowell, was filmed not in Punxsutowny, Pennsylvania as you would suspect, but in Woodstock, Illinois. Woodstock won’t forget its good fortune either. It hosts an annual festival during the first week of February to help remember the film and the movie set locations for the film. The Village’s website posts the list of activities for this season’s event, which includes an early morning prognosticator’s breakfast. Stay tuned for Spring!
