Fayetteville and San Joaquin County Selected as Census Test Sites

February 1, 2006 · Print · Email

The U.S. Census Bureau announced that it has selected Fayetteville, North Carolina and San Joaquin County, California as the two sites for the “dress rehearsal” of the 2010 Census. The dress rehearsal, which will take place in 2008, is designed to help the Bureau increase the accuracy and efficiency of the 2010 Census.

As a result, the test sites will benefit from approximately 4,000 temporary jobs.

The Census Bureau selected San Joaquin County because of its urban location and multilingual population. Fayetteville was chosen because it has a blend of urban, suburban and rural areas and is home to two military bases.
