Web Chat to Focus on Disaster Prepardness and Recovery
While no area of the country is immune from natural disasters, being prepared for such calamities - and having a recovery plan in place - can help local officials better cope with emergencies caused by hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, wildfires, and the like.
Disaster preparedness will be the focus of an upcoming National Cities Network (NCN) web chat, to be held on May 31 at 4:00 pm (EST). The program will be hosted by Kathleen Tiernan, sociology professor and director of the National Hazards Center at the University of Colorado.
The web chat is free, but requires registration, and requires the use of Microsofts Live Meeting software. Visit the Expert Chats section of the NCN web site for more details.
Disaster Preparedness and Response is National Cities Networks theme for the month of May. The site will feature over 500 policy documents on disaster preparedness for cities, a best practices video, web chats and information on related conferences and expositions.
