Celebrate America’s History With a Visit to “Historic Triangle"

A road trip to America’s “Historic Triangle” ? Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown - promises entertainment, history, and more. The timing couldn’t be better for a visit, and if you can’t make it in person, you can visit one of several commemorative web sites for a virtual stopover.

The coming year will mark the 400th anniversary of Jamestown, the first English settlement in the nation, and festivities will take place through spring 2008. Yorktown will commemorate the 225th anniversary of the Victory at Yorktown with a four-day event in October 2006 that will kick off the 18-month celebration.

Historical attractions abound, including colonial settlements, Revolutionary War battlefields, and plantations. Other venues include the U.S. Army Transportation Museum and The Mariner’s Museum, America’s largest maritime museum, which is counting down the days to the opening of the USS Monitor Center in March 2007 (the online exhibit is a must-see!).

Opportunities for fun and entertainment are also plentiful, and come branded with a theme - from pirates to colonial times - for extra punch! Whether you enjoy dinner theater, miniature golf, or haunted houses, the Historic Triangle will keep you busy and entertained. One of the area’s largest attractions is Busch Gardens, a European-themed park featuring amusement rides, animal attractions, concerts and more.

The Historic Triangle is located between Virginia Beach and Richmond.
